We're closing for a winter break, but will be again soon!
things to do in the Easter school holidays

For many parents, the this time of year brings about a flurry of questions around things to do in the Easter school holidays – and how to keep the little ones entertained.

Thankfully, with the gorgeous Hermanus and Hemel-en-Aarde on your doorstep, especially if you’re based in the Mother City or Western Cape – there is always something fun for the whole family to enjoy during the holidays, especially over the Easter school holidays.

In this post, we look at five fun things to do with kids these Easter school holidays in the Hermanus Region:

1) Spend Quality Time Together at Canvas Collective Africa

At Canvas Collective Africa, our beautiful location in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley provides families with the perfect nature escape.

It’s the ideal setting for both young and old to recharge their batteries and make new memories together.

Add to that, a host of child-friendly experiences on-site and you are all set for a memorable family getaway.

Some of the child- and teen-friendly fun to be had at Canvas Collective Africa includes Easter Egg hunts, rock painting, cookie baking with Chef, walking- and biking-trails (just bring your own bicycles!), paddle boarding and even fishing by the dam.

With all these great experiences and our luxury glamping tents in the pristine heart of Cape nature – there’s scarcely a better way to spend the Easter school holidays!

2) Enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt at Benguela Cove

From 20 March to 3 April 2024, beautiful Benguela Cove Wine Estate’s Adventure Park will offer the kids all kinds of fun Easter experiences to enjoy. And yes, that definitely including an egg-citing Easter Egg Hunt!

With surprises waiting at every turn, little explorers – tightly gripping their trusty trail map in hand – can embark on a thrilling Easter Egg experience that will take them across the Adventure Park.

This journey will allow them to hunt down their eggs, while also learning about all kinds of amazing flora and fauna in the process.

Best of all, rumour has it that even the Easter Bunny will make an appearance!

Parents can book a spot for their kids online by visiting the estate website.

3) Explore Hermanus Country Market

Another awesome, family-friendly experience in the Hermanus Region is none other than the popular Hermanus Country Market.

This incredible family- and dog-friendly market ensures everyone gets to spend a lovely Saturday out together, as you browse all kinds of interesting stalls, which sell everything from fresh local produce to tasty eats to arts and crafts and so much more.

And with exciting train rides and fabulous face painting, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained too!

This market is open every Saturday from 9am – 2pm and takes place at the Hermanus Cricket Club, corner of Fairways Avenue and Jose Burman Drive.

4) Visit Fernkloof Nature Reserve
